Role summary 

Join our community as a Contractor Creative Therapist offering a safe, playful space where children aged 7–12 can express upsets through play, art, and creative activity. You’ll work one day a week with a ready caseload of 4–5 children in a fully equipped creative room, earn €50 per hour, and have overheads and admin support covered. Bring your warm, child centred practice and clinical autonomy to help children who have limited words for complex feelings, collaborating with parents, family support workers, early years practitioners, and youth workers to turn small moments of play into lasting coping skills and family wellbeing.

Key responsibilities 

  • Deliver 1:1 sessions using play, art, or music therapy approaches, tailored to each child’s developmental needs. 

  • Run 4–5 client sessions in a sessional day, managing time and therapeutic goals effectively. 

  • Produce concise, plain-language progress notes and share brief updates with carers and relevant professionals. 

  • Attend periodic case coordination meetings as needed. 

  • Maintain confidentiality and work within the service’s safeguarding and child protection policies. 

 

Essential requirements 

  • Accreditation with a recognised professional body in play therapy, art therapy, or music therapy. 

  • Professional qualification and current eligibility to practise as a self-employed therapist. 

  • Experience working therapeutically with children aged 7–12. 

  • Up-to-date professional indemnity insurance. 

  • Garda vetting or willingness to complete vetting as part of appointment. 

  • Strong communication skills for working with families and multidisciplinary teams. 

 

Contract details 

Contract type: Self-employed contractor, sessional engagement. 

Working pattern: 1 day per week. 

Caseload: 4–5 clients per day. 

Fee: €50 per hour. 

Resources: Dedicated creative therapy space provided; overheads covered. 

Support: Administrative support for bookings, client communication, and record management. 

Location: Northside Family Resource Centre, Ballynanty, Limerick.  

Start date: Immediate start available.
